As a student who wants study in australia, you may want to know what documents you will need to apply to Australian Universities. For those who wish to pursue their higher education at an Australian university, here is a list of documents you will need for your application process to be completed.

1. Valid passport

When applying to an Australian university, you will need to provide a copy of your passport. If you do not have a passport, you must obtain one before applying to a university. Your passport must be valid for the duration of your studies in Australia.

2. Academic transcripts

Applicants wishing to study in Australia would be required to provide their secondary and upper secondary report or certificate as well as academic transcripts (score sheets or report cards) from final examinations. Candidates are ideally required to convert the marks obtained according to the Australian grading system.

3. Entrance exam score

6. SOP (Statement of Intent)

  • What interests you about the course content and what makes it the best study choice?

  • How do your previous studies correspond to the course you want to follow? If they don’t match, you should explain why you want to change subjects.
  • What career are you aiming for after graduation and how does this degree fit with your project?


International students would also be required to submit a letter of recommendation (two recommended) from the person who taught the student or knows them professionally, outlining the student’s strengths and weaknesses and why they would excel in their chosen field, must also provide.

8. Project description or portfolio

A project description or portfolio is only required for specialized programs, such as a Master of Research or Master of Science. Portfolios are required when applying for a Masters in Arts, Design and Architecture. Universities expect this portfolio to reflect your experience and talent in your field of study. They will also review your work and the type of projects you have completed. A project description is required when applying for a program that will culminate in a research thesis. This project description should include the following:

  • What are you looking for and why
  • What is the current state of research on this topic?
  • How will you conduct your research
  • What findings do you expect and how does your research add to the body of existing knowledge
